“Dead” … Again
In this brief, well researched article — as well as the news bits about Russia in "Russia Will Spread Her Errors ...Raising Up Wars and Persecutions", a very different picture emerges from the one that our daily television, newspapers and other popular media portray. Our Lord told us, “The Truth will make you free”. It is because the truth has been deliberately hidden from us (by the media, and even the Vatican through the treacherous Vatican - Moscow Agreement) that we North Americans today are paying billions, even trillions (over the years), of dollars into the KGB, and the Communist Party coffers, through our income taxes as well as the drug trade. This ongoing silence about the present day low intensity warfare as well as the silence about the large scale, long-lasting, single-minded, ongoing preparations for high intensity warfare in the near future, only prepares us for a more certain defeat. Our Lady of Fatima came to warn us. We ignore Her at our own imminent peril. Read this and see for yourself. If you want further proof, write us — we will put it in the next issue. When you are convinced, pass the word on to friends, neighbors and all your loved ones.
By Augustine Smith
As even a casual student of 20th Century history would know, Communism has staged its own death repeatedly, only to rise out of its casket during the funeral service in a state of amazing good health. The errors of Russia, which Our Lady of Fatima warned in 1917 would spread throughout the world, have proven to be as resilient as the hardiest of viruses, and just as capable of mutating and entering temporary dormancy in order to survive.
Again and again since the Russian Revolution of 1917 the West has been assured by Communist leaders that the Russian Bear had passed away, and that a kinder, gentler Bear had taken its place. Between 1917 and 1991, under the regimes of Lenin (the "New Economic Plan"), Stalin, Khrushchev ("peaceful coexistence") and Brezhnev (detente), the West was enticed no fewer than five times to drop its guard and send massive financial aid to the Soviet empire, based on deceptive promises of liberalization and the advent of democracy and free-market economies. Each time, after billions of dollars in Western aid had been swept into Soviet coffers by the paws of the "friendly" Bear, the Bear stood up on its hind legs and roared even more loudly than before, reminding us of Rudyard Kipling's poem, The Bear that Walks Like a Man:
When he stands up as pleading, in wavering, man-brute guise,
When he veils the hate and cunning of his little swinish eyes,
When he shows as seeking quarter, with paws like hands inprayer,
That is the time of peril — the time of the Truce of the Bear.
And now, for the sixth time, we are assured that the Bear has become friendly, and that fledgling democracy and free markets have taken root irrevocably in the "former Soviet Union." This latest "death of Communism" is described by the Russian words glasnost and perestroika.
In 1991, after the melodrama of a phony "coup" against Mikhail Gorbachev by Soviet "hardliners" (during which Gorbachev watched videos while resting comfortably in his vacation home in the Crimea), we were told that the grave threat to glasnost and perestroika had been turned aside, that the Soviet Union had "collapsed" and that the Cold War was finally and definitively over. Naturally, the West would have to send billions more of dollars in Western "loans" (i.e. gifts, subsidized by United States taxpayers) to help "the former Soviet Union" make the transition from totalitarian Communism to flourishing Western-style democracy.
So, then, is Communism dead, really dead, this time? Well, this time the funeral services were impressive, easily the most impressive of all the previous funerals for Communism, but upon close examination one will find that there is no body in the casket and the Russian Bear is still very much alive. To confirm this, we need only consider the following hard facts, widely published in the press and reputable intelligence journals:
Glasnost and perestroika are nothing
but strategic deceptions of the West.
In 1987 Gorbachev assured the Politburo that glasnost and perestroika "are primarily for outward consumption. There will be no significant internal changes within the Soviet Union, other than for cosmetic purposes ... Our purpose is to disarm the Americans and let them fall asleep."
In 1984, KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn revealed in his book New Lies for Old that Soviets realized that in order to deceive the West by showing it what it wanted to see, they "could plan a fictitious disintegration of the [Soviet] bloc, provided that it was accompanied in parallel by an actual (but concealed) implementation of the long range policy of strengthening the bloc."
The Communist Party still controls Russia.
The lower house of the Russian parliament, called the Duma, is completely dominated by members of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU), who "returned" to power in the parliamentary elections of November 1996. In less than a year after their "return", the members of the Duma passed, and Boris Yeltsin signed into law, a statute restricting the rights of the Catholic Church in Russia, while giving preferred legal status to the Russian Orthodox Church, Judaism, Islam and Buddhism. Yeltsin himself is a "former" Communist party boss.
In essence, the CPSU is still running Russia. Even the left-liberal Time magazine quoted the head of the Russian Parliament, Ruslan Khazbulatov, as stating that "Entire sections of the former Communist Party Central Committee simply drifted into President Yeltsin's administration, together with their archives, safes and even telephones. Under the guise of working for a democratic president, they are simply restoring the old Communist Party ways."
As for the "political parties" which have arisen in Russia since the "fall of Communism", they are all front groups set up and controlled by the CPSU, as confirmed in Political Affairs, the journal of the Communist Party of the United States. (Oct-Nov '94 issue).
The Soviet KGB was never disbanded, but merely given a new name: the Federal Security Service (FSB). It is better organized today than it was before the "fall of Communism" and continues to infiltrate its agents into the United States.
All fifteen of the "former Soviet republics"
are controlled by Communists.
Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Croatia, all continue to be governed by Communists.
Oddly enough, not one of the "former" Communist leaders who remain effectively in power in these countries has been removed from office or otherwise held to account for seventy years of crimes against the victims of Soviet Communism, which has claimed the lives of more than 40,000,000 innocent people, including 10,000,000 Catholics in the Ukraine alone.
Obviously, these "former Communists" have escaped justice because it is they who control the organs of justice in "the former Soviet Union". These "former Communists" are hardly likely to allow prosecutions of themselves.
Even Poland, the Pope's home country, remains effectively under Communist control. At the so-called Round Table Conference in 1989, a power-sharing agreement was forged which allowed the Communists to keep control of the intelligence services, the Ministry of the Interior (including the national police force), the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Thus, Poland's intelligence network, police force, military and diplomacy are operated by Communists. Control of these agencies was all that the Communists required to subjugate Poland in 1949, and that control remains in Communist hands today. (See The Fatima Crusader, Issue No. 52, Spring 1996 for an in-depth analysis of "former" Soviet Republics).
Communism continues openly to dominate 40%
of the world's population.
Some 50 countries, comprising nearly 40% of the world's population, are still openly Communist regimes. These include China, Mongolia, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Mozambique, Angola, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Democratic Peoples Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Kyrgyz Republic, and "former" Soviet satellites, Slovak Republic, Albania and Belarus.
Communism continues to spread around the globe,
including the nations of the West.
At least 30 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America have Communist insurgency movements aiming for the overthrow of governments. In 1994 South Africa voted into power Nelson Mandela's Communist-dominated African National Congress (ANC) party. The ANC is entirely controlled by the South African Communist Party (SACP), which, in turn, is completely controlled by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
The aim of these insurgency movements, and the SACP in South Africa, is to place into Communist hands the oil supplies of the mid-East and the mineral wealth of Africa.
In Italy and France, Communists effectively run the government, while the German government, headed by the leftist Schroeder, is riddled with agents of the former East German secret police. One of the first things the "reunified" government of Germany did was to liberalize its abortion law.
In England, 20 out of 23 members of Tony Blair's cabinet are Fabian Socialists, while in the United States, Americans are afflicted by a useless two-party system which has produced quasi-socialism in the guise of democracy. America leads the world in abortion, divorce, violent crime, drug abuse and pornography.
The Congressional record of January 10, 1963 made note of 28 Communist goals for the destruction of Western civilization:
1. U.S. acceptance of peaceful coexistence with Communism.
2. U.S. promises to surrender rather than engage in atomic war.
3. U.S. acceptance of the premise that total disarmament would
be a sign of moral strength.
4. "Free trade" with Communist nations.
5. Long-term "loans" to Russia and the Communist satellites.
6. Foreign aid to Communist nations.
7. U.N. recognition of Red China.
8. U.N. representation for each of the Soviet satellites.
9. Acceptance of the United Nations as mankind's "only hope."
10. The use of court decisions to undermine the constitutional
rights of Americans.
11. Using the schools to transmit socialist and Communist
propaganda and to "dumb down" American students.
12. Communist control of campus newspapers.
13. Use of student riots to trigger public protests against U.S.
14. Infiltration of the press.
15. Control of the mass media.
16. The degradation of American culture and art.
17. Controlling art critics and museum directors to promote ugly,
repulsive and meaningless art forms.
18. Repeal of all laws banning obscenity.
19. Promotion of pornography and obscenity in the mass media.
20. Establishing homosexuality as normal and natural.
21. Infiltrate the churches to replace revealed religion with the
"social Gospel" and deny the truth of Sacred Scripture.
22. Banish all prayer from public schools.
23. Discredit the Constitution as old-fashioned and a hindrance to
24. Discredit the Founding Fathers as slave-owning aristocrats
who despised the common man.
25. Promote all socialist movements aiming to centralize
government control over cultural and social agencies.
26. Transfer arrest powers from the police to social agencies, and
reduce all behavioral problems to matters only a psychiatrist
can handle — for example, arresting and imprisoning parents
who use corporal punishment or home school their children.
27. Infiltrate the psychiatric profession and use it to promote
"mental health" laws to oppress those who oppose the social
disintegration caused by the Communist program.
28. Undermine the institution of the family, encourage promiscuity
and easy divorce.
Practically every one of those goals has already been achieved, with the United States leading the way to moral and spiritual oblivion.
The "collapse" of the Russian economy
is being used to justify the "return" of old-style Communism.
Since the "fall of Communism" the condition of Russian society has only deteriorated. The Russian mafia, together with "former Communist" officials in government, control virtually all of the nation's wealth. Violent crime, alcoholism, abortion and divorce are rampant. The Russian currency is worthless. Only in the black market, which deals in foreign currency, is it possible for the people to obtain even the bare necessities of life.
A recent Gallup poll of Russia found that 60% of the Russian people believe that life was better under Communism. The rising tide of Russian nationalism and disgust with living conditions has prepared the way for the emergence of a neo-Communist "strongman" who will restore Russia to her former greatness, and reconstitute the Soviet Union.
Russia is engaging in a massive military buildup.
As General Colin Powell has noted, even with the START treaty the Soviets "will have the ability to destroy the U.S. in 30 minutes."
But Russia is not content with this. The Russian army still stands at 2-2.5 million men, and Soviet weapons production continues apace. However, Russia recognizes that its nuclear arsenal, not its ground forces, is what makes it a superpower.
Since "the fall of Communism" announced in 1988, Russia has continued to produce and deploy an average of 75 nuclear missiles, 8 nuclear submarines and 20 strategic bombers each year. Missile production includes the high-tech SS-27, which can be directed to targets from an earth-orbit. There is evidence that Russia has deployed mobile versions of the SS-27 which would be nearly impossible to count and monitor.
All told, Russia still commands a nuclear arsenal of 25,000-30,000 warheads, and growing. Meanwhile, Russia continues to refuse to sign the SALT II nuclear arms treaty.
After Toshiba of Japan supplied crucial micro-milling machines to the Soviets in the late 1980's, Russia was able to develop propulsion screws for its silent-running Akula class nuclear submarine, on display in the movie Red October.
The Akula 941, at a cost of $5.8 billion each, can carry 20 multiple-warhead submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SN-24s and SN-26s) in its missile tubes. An Akula 941 is designed to launch a devastating nuclear attack on the United States from 100 miles offshore, annihilating 130,000,000 Americans in less than 7 minutes from launch. It takes nine minutes for U.S. defenses even to confirm a launch against us!
The Akula 971, at $5.5 billion apiece, is a fast attack submarine which can launch tactical nuclear warheads on cruise missiles, each capable of vaporizing an average-size U.S. city, with almost no warning.
The Akula class submarines run so quietly that they are virtually undetectable. In 1996 a Russian submarine, probably an Akula 971, managed to remain undetected in Puget Sound, Washington State for 30 days, as it mapped the Sound and spied on our Trident submarine base in Bangor, WA.
In the 1990s Russia has spent some $128 billion for Akula class submarines alone.
Why such an enormous expenditure on nuclear attack submarines for a nation that supposedly has abandoned any thought of world domination and is now a friendly "partner" of the West?
All told, the Russian military machine remains the world's largest, and still employs a staggering 8-10 million people. The Russian military complex is five to six times the size of our own.
Yet in spite of all these alarming data, we are told that the Russian Bear has gone to sleep, and no longer has any military designs on the world.
Russia is preparing to win a nuclear war.
In May of 1999, two months after NATO began bombing Serbia, the Moscow Times reported that Viktor Mikhalov, Russia's Minister of Atomic Energy, had advocated preparations for winning a "limited atomic war", in which Russia could launch "pin-point strikes" designed to destroy key targets without triggering a global nuclear holocaust.
Within days of Mikhalov's remarks, the Associated Press reported that the Russians had been conducting test firings of nuclear-capable missiles from its long-range bombers, as part of an exercise of probing Western air defenses in Iceland and Norway. The exercise also involved 30 ships, 10,000 troops and numerous aircraft — the largest Russian military exercise in a decade, and the first since the "end" of the Cold War.
The exercise was also reported by World-Net Daily, which noted that "demonstrating this emphasis on nuclear war, an unprecedented number of nuclear war games have taken place in the last year and a half. The frequency and size of these war games dramatically increased after the United Nations began bombing Serbia on March 24."
Russia has been building a vast network of nuclear shelters for its military and civilian populations. Best estimates are that some 70% of the Russian population could be sheltered from nuclear blasts. Meanwhile, the United States continues to adhere to the insane policy of MAD — Mutual Assured Destruction. Under MAD, we are deliberately leaving ourselves unprotected from nuclear attack so that the Russians will not be "provoked" by the prospect that America could survive a nuclear attack after launching an American "first strike" against Russia.
Yet the Russians are preparing precisely for a nuclear war that they could survive, while the United States does nothing to protect its own citizens.
Russia has entered a military alliance with Red China,
which supplies Islamic terrorists with weaponry.
Russia and China are now engaged in arms trade, weapons development and military cooperation. China, too, is engaged in a massive military buildup along with North Korea.
China has obtained abundant military high-technology from the United States through the Clinton administration, including Cray supercomputers and the technologies needed for neutron bombs, ballistic missiles, submarines and fighter planes. China is sharing the technology with Russia, North Korea and radical Islamic states.
Red China, using U.S. technology, has conducted at least seven tests on a neutron bomb, capable of killing United States citizens with huge blasts of radiation, while leaving buildings intact and ready for eventual occupation by enemy forces. China has at least 18 ICBMs capable of reaching the West Coast of the United States, which (like the rest of the United States) is utterly defenseless against ICBM attacks. Thirteen of these 18 ICBMs are targeted on our West Coast.
China continues to prepare for the invasion of Taiwan, with more than 300,000 troops positioned to invade on a moment's notice. Meanwhile, North Korea threatens South Korea. In his book The Next War, former Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger presents the entirely possible scenario of a simultaneous invasion of Taiwan and South Korea by China and North Korea.
China is a major weapons exporter to Iran, Pakistan, Syria and Libya.
All of these developments are part of what has been called "an emerging axis of socialist, Communist and Islamic states who hate America and are preparing for war."
Yet America has cut its military budget by 75% since the "fall of Communism", and the NATO bombing campaign against an utterly defenseless Serbia has practically depleted our supply of Cruise Missiles.
The Russians and the Chinese continue to use narcotics
as part of their ongoing war against the West.
In his book Red Cocaine: The Drugging of America and the West, prominent U.S. defense and security analyst Joseph D. Douglass documents how Russia, China and Cuba are financing and controlling a $2-3 trillion a year drug trade directed at America and the West. All told, Communist nations have turned a profit of some 40 trillion dollars on drug trade in North America.
Not only does this massive influx of narcotics undermine what is left of Western civilization, but the proceeds of the drug sales are helping to finance the Russian and Red Chinese arms buildups.
The use of drugs to undermine the West is part of the low-intensity warfare advocated by the Italian Communist theorist Antonio Gramsci in the 1920s and later adopted by the Soviets. As Douglass notes in Red Cocaine:
"After the Communist Chinese, having used narcotics against their own people prior to seizing power in 1949, had extended their drug operations internationally, the Soviets embarked in earnest, on Khrushchev's orders, on their own drug offensive reinforcing a revolutionary campaign to demoralize the West by degrading society's morals and institutions, a strategy enunciated by [Gramsci]."
In 1963 Nikita Khrushchev declared that "deception and drugs are our first two strategic echelons in the war with capitalism."
Twenty-one years later, Antonio Farach, a former high-ranking Nicaraguan Communist official, revealed that "Drugs were used as political weapons. The target was the youth of the United States."
Red Cocaine includes statistics demonstrating that the death rate from drug abuse in America has been skyrocketing since the early 1960s, when Russian Communist financed and controlled drug lords began pouring narcotics into this country by the hundreds of tons.
How many millions of lives have been ruined, how many families destroyed by the plague of illegal drugs, the war of drugs waged against America by Communist nations — particularly Russia and its satellites around the world?
In the Old Testament, the prophet Jeremiah condemned the false prophets of Jerusalem, who said "peace, peace, when there is no peace." Today, the false prophets of the West say peace, peace, while our enemies prepare for war--perhaps the final war.
At Fatima, Our Lady spoke with a voice even more compelling than that of Jeremiah. In October 1917, only a few weeks before the Bolsheviks seized power in Russia, the Virgin came to warn mankind that if Her request for the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart were not granted, "Russia will spread its errors throughout the world, raising up wars and persecutions against the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated."
Will the world listen to Our Lady in time, or will the voices of the false prophets of our day continue to lull the world to sleep until the moment of our annihilation?
It cannot be very long before we know the answer.
